Have you ever been in a car accident?

I am a passionate about cars and my career is in the automobile field and I have a huge road fear. Which seems ironic for someone who designed and worked with race cars.

It was in the evening, we were 5 friends travelling from my home to drop another friend, there is a curved road near my house that seems like a fast corner from a Formula 1 circuit. Usually we take the corner at 60 kmph max and any car would do the same turn at around 80 kmph. We were in a Toyota Corolla. My friend wanted to show off to the person sitting in the passenger seat and was thrashing the car at around 110kmph around the corner. To our shear bad luck, the right front tyre was found punctured (which we assume caused the crash) and lost complete control over the car. The car jackknifed and my friend tried to correct it and it skid from one lane to the other and hit the kerb on the passenger side and flipped onto its roof and rotated around 4 times before it came to a halt.

I still pray god till date. We all were supposed to be killed if you saw the wreckage but it is pure luck that not even a single person had any injuries except for the injuries caused by the glass panes.

I never used to drive before that accident (I was 20 years old then) and it took me more than 2 years to get out of it and learn to drive. Even now when I drive, I completely reduce my speed when taking corners. When I sit in another persons car, I always have one of my hand on the dashboard due to fear of the road and accidents.

It is really horrific to see an accident let alone experience it. I would pray that everyone drive safe and responsibly and know the fact that all the people around cannot be so lucky to be given another chance to live.
