What do I do in a car accident?

Here I have listed some important points to cut down the cost from your pocket, and what you should tell to your insurance agent and police.

Stop the car & get out it, the first and foremost step.

If you & somebody else is injured seek medical help asap. If you can access the first aid box in your car, then good enough, get the primary medication done.

If you’re not injured (Or if somehow no one was injured in the accident, the first priority must be your vehicle) or getting physically fit, look at your car.

Call the police immediately at the accident spot.
Do not get indulge in a bad conversation with another party, about the fault or damages.

It will be best if you call your car insurance company agent at the accident spot. Because nobody can narrate what exactly happened, the message always gets altered.

Take pictures of the damages from your mobile! In case they can’t come, take pictures of spot & crash. As a picture says a thousand words. Plus you will have visual proof. You can make a video by narrating what happened at the spot, that will be the best.

Take note of everything:

Who was driving the car? In short driver’s details.

Your car’s details like policy number and other important documents.

Details of the car of another party, like a model, year make, license plate number, etc.

Date, time & address of accident.

A short & exact brief about the accident, like in which direction your car was moving? How the collision took place? Did weather condition cause it?

Don’t forget to take pictures.

But remember do not admit anything! Please remember that you should not take the responsibility of the accident even if it was your fault in front of the insurance agent/police.

Submit all the proofs to the insurance company. While filing your claim you have to submit all the proofs you have collected from the accident spots.
